Overview
Released on 22 August 2025 through Reprise and Warner Records, private music is Deftones' tenth studio album. Recorded between 2023 and 2025 across studios in California, Oregon and Tennessee, it marked the band's reunion with producer Nick Raskulinecz following his work on Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan. The album also became the band's first studio release to feature touring bassist Fred Sablan, following the departure of Sergio Vega, while Chino Moreno contributed more guitar parts than on previous Deftones albums.
Arriving nearly five years after Ohms, private music marked the longest gap between studio albums in Deftones' catalogue. The album's tracklist also adopted an unconventional styling, with nearly every song title presented in lowercase, the only exception being cXz. Supported by the singles my mind is a mountain and milk of the madonna, private music received widespread critical acclaim, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 68th Grammy Awards.
